Glory of Rome Test Drive
this morning i had the chance to sit down and play the Glory of Rome slot game. it’s a five line video slot that just came out in december and is available at the microgaming casinos. i’m playing at All Jackpots, per usual these days.
the first thing that caught me is that you can wager up to 20 coins per payline. that’s a heck of a lotta coins. and, there are 20 different paylines to activate, so you can get a lot of wagering in on one spin. add to that the max coins size is $.50. high rollers and low ballers alike can find a way to make this slot fit their gambling budgets.
there is a bonus feature on this slot that you unlock by landing the scatter symbol - the gladiator. you need to land three of these symbols, and as each one hits the music on the slot heightens in expectation. the reels take a little longer to stop spinning, and the whole slot goes into “anticipation mode”. it’s really pretty cool.
the caesar symbol is a WILD that will substitute for other symbols and fill in winning combinations.
i just unlocked the bonus feature, where i had the chance to choose four shields from a display of nine. each shild i chose revealed a prize of “free spins”, and each were worth 10 spins. so, i just got off of a 40 Free Spin session, where ALL my winners were doubled.
i think the only thing i don’t like about this slot is the little intro movie. not one of the better ones i’ve seen. which, makes this a pretty decent slot.
i think with the newer slots from microgaming, it’s really a matter of do you like the theme (i’m not that thrilled with the gladiator thing, but i like that better than the secret admirer theme). and things like do you really prefer 25 paylines over 20. are those five paylines a big deal to you. because all the games are high quality, and the extra touches that come out in one set seem to stay in another.
well, perhaps i shouldn’t say that. the spring to life, cover the entire column samurai symbol on the twin samurai game is something that makes that slot special.
let me just say that the Glory of Rome slot game has a lot of good things built into it, it doesn’t push the envelope (but at this point, i’m not sure how you could), and it offers some solid gameplay. errr, plus i won on it, so that makes it a great slot by default
