Slotland Casino Trip Report
it’s a holiday, and i felt like putting around a bit this morning, so i wandered into Slotland. after having cashed out at All Jackpots (i’m expecting that neteller to hit tomorrow in the morning), i remembered i still had a couple of dollars sitting at Slotland and thought i’d stop in.
slotland sends their players emails from time to time, like every casino online. but in the newsletter is a mini-slot game. i play them when they arrive, and i hit a $10 winner here nad there. i think the game now gives deposit bonuses, but they used to give actual money. well, sooner or later i’d be able to win on that newsletter bonus cash, and i did.
i have it up to somewhere in the mid $200’s actually. but, since it was all free from the very start, i really have no designs on cashing it out. well, unless i do something like hit a jackpot with it.
at any rate, wandered in today to see that the casino-wide progressive jackpot is at $53,000. at slotland, all of the games are tied together in one big casino-wide progressive jackpot. so, no matter what machine you are playing, you may hit the big one.
slotland also has a couple of other neat features. it’s no download, but it doesn’t use flash, it’s some sort of .html programming. what does that mean in english? you can play it from pretty much anywhere, including from a webTV (if you remember what those things are).
the kicker is, there is no sound. that’s right, no sound! this prompted a friend of mine to call slotland the horse and buggy of the casino world. and, after playing things like the new Age of Discovery from microgaming, i can certainly see what he’s talking about.
so, how does a casino overcome the fact that they have no sound, and only handful of games that are all slot machines? high payouts. in a nutshell, any slot that pays well is fun to play. and, slotland sets their games at 98% payback. a few minutes into it, and you don’t even notice there’s no sound, you’re all wrapped up in the winning (well, i should only speak for myself).
and the winning isn’t the same as on a regular video slot, where every spin is a winner, but you’re not winning enough to cover the cost of the spin. so it’s not like “i win, i win, i win, i win, ok, i need to put another $20 in”.
so, how did i do today? spent some time at the TreasureBox machine, and ended up landing this . .
i like the TreasureBox because it’s got a hold feature. you spin the reels once, and then if anything good lands, you can “hold” that reel in place and respin the others. makes it seem easier to catch winners. the thrill is when you land three good symbols on the first spin, then you can hold them all in place and get paid for that winning combination four times.
of course there are other machines at slotland, but that’s for a different day.
